Just Horsing Around

Following a family tradition, Connor got to ride a horse for his second birthday. My mom had me on the back of a horse at 2 years old, so when she asked me if Connor could go for a ride...I said - sure, why not?

My mom has always been a horse lover - she's done dressage, hunter-jumper, polo-cross, competitive trail riding...and the list goes on and on. As most of you know, my parents live on a 45 acre ranch in the Texas hill country and they have three horses - which makes it really easy when you want to go for a ride.

Turning Two Texas Style

As an early birthday celebration, Ross and I took Connor to Luckenbach for some live music. From almost day one, Connor's always loved music. We listen to music each and every day - in the morning and at night - we sing, we dance - it's a big part of his life.

However, it wasn't just about the music...Luckenbach is legendary in Texas and it was time that Connor see it for himself. This may have been his first trip to this historic town, but it won't be his last. When I was a little girl, my parents used to take me to Luckenbach all the time.  They would hang out drinking beer and listening to music from Willie Nelson and Gary P. Nunn while we played horseshoes and washers all day.

Alright, I'm ready to rock out!

Let me up there...I can play a mean cowbell.

I'm super excited...Let's have some fun!

Oooppps! I got "picked up" by security for my provocative dance moves.

What?!?! My very own Harley!! Thanks Dad!!

Photo Shoot

A few months ago we took Kate to our favorite photographer Kathy Weigand. Kathy's photographed our wedding, me pregnant, Connor as a newborn and now it was Kate's turn. I'm in the process of ordering some prints and jpegs from her, but for the mean time here are some shots she posted on her website.

Remember when...(#1)

This day in age, with social networking quickly overtaking phone calls and face-to-face interaction as the preferred method of communication, it's no surprise that many of us have "friends" that we've never actually met. I definitely have a few "friends" that I've never been in the same room with. For example there's a blog that I love to follow written by my friend Jennifer Hopkins. I've never met Jennifer, but I used to work with her husband and I know that she's a fellow Baylor alum.  Anyway, Jennifer's not only a very creative writer, but also an accomplished photographer. Her blog chronicles the lives of her family and her stories are witty and fun.

So Jennifer has a segment on her blog called "Bits and Pieces". This is where she highlights quick little stories about something funny her daughter said, or her son's favorite activity. Basically, it's a fun way to let her kids know about all the silly things they did when they were little.

I want to start something similar on my blog, so here we go...

1. Connor likes to call himself "Con-Con". They started calling him that at school since it's easy for the kids to say. Now if I ask him where Con-Con is, he points to himself.

2. Kate also has a nickname. Ross and I like to call her "BK", it stands for baby Kate.

3. Since we didn't know the sex of either of our kids, we had to arrive at the delivery room with a girl name and a boy name picked out. When Connor was born we had two boy names that we couldn't decide between and when Kate was born we had two girl names.  For Connor it was between Connor and Cameron. If he was a girl, his name would have been Taylor Marie.  For Kate is was between Kate and Kendall. If she had been a boy her name would have been Blake William.

4. Connor used to scoot backwards on his butt before he learned to crawl.

5. Connor loves to dance. He rocks side to side picking his feet up but not bending his knees. It makes me laugh because it looks a little like how Frankenstein would dance if he could. Anyway, he loves it when people dance with him, so he'll grab your hand and begin dancing wanting you to follow along. It looks halarious when we all do the Frankenstein dance in the kitchen.

Pretty in Pink

Here are a few pictures of Kate. I can't believe she's 4 months old!
